India- Aus Test Series: Rigidity at its Best!

Image
My mom says the first time I bunked school was during the 1992 world cup when India lost to Australia by a run. I remember I was extremely sad then and to cheer me up, my mom gave me 2 coins to play Contra in the nearby video game shop! It’s been 20 years now and I believe like everything, life has taken a full circle for Indian cricket team. India started the series with a lot of promise but then squandered away the initiative, showing signs that something is going wrong in the heads of our heroes! Few flashes of brilliance in Melbourne gave us hope that may be this series will not be as embarrassing as the one in England. Although, the story from then has been “all shot to hell” and our so called best batting line up in the world has been shown the doors thousand times on the pitch in the corridors of uncertainty! The most baffling part of the whole episode has been the selection. If an average of around 20 in the last 7 overseas test matches doesn’t ring a bell to ...

Dreams do come true

There are days when we struggle, when goal seems far off, when the world is against you; those are the days when few of us talk to ourselves and raise our hands in dismay. Well, not anymore because group of few immortals have shown a billion people way to success, glory and brilliance. They have shown us that self belief can do wonders when taken in the right spirit with the fervor of fire. It has shown us the power of dream even if it takes a legend like Sachin Tendulkar to achieve it in 22 long years! Cricket is more than a mere sport in India. It is a medium which binds billion of people together with one common dream and when we taste success then a sea of joy touches our hearts; only in this case, this is the success of a billion people. The moment of incredible Indian victory has been engraved in our hearts and minds forever. It seems like the champions theme is still playing in my mind after twelve long hours and I hope it plays forever because this victory is symbolic of a ...

Insomnia

As a passionate cricket fan, very rarely I have felt insomnia and the power cricket has in my mind as I did yesterday. After a good dinner, I decided to sleep early to gear myself for the big day. Although, it wasn’t to be; In the space of seven hours, I envisioned Indian team in multiple catch 22 situations in different phases of my life with lesser hair day by day. As I write down this note, it sounds hilarious but I had a torrid time digging the Indian team out of the hole in all the matches. Needless to say that every time India won! Such is the power of cricket in India and the magnanimity of occasion that it literally brings the whole nation together with one dream, one passion and one prayer; An Indian victory. People from all walks of life have only one talking point. Everyone burn the midnight oil to free themselves for such occasions. I am sure that there are thousand of cricket freaks like me in a similar situation. Although I am vouching for an Indian win, I know it is ...

Sachin- My Hero-II

It was the sunny after noon of 16 th October’08 when the great man reached the inevitable. It was an emotional moment for our hero and it made us even more emotional. The peak of Mount Everest in terms of cricket has been redefined so many times by so many greats but this time it’s more so special because this time it’s my child hood hero who has engraved his name forever in the History Books for the most prestigious record in World Cricket. Sachin said that he had to throw a lot of stone to reach the milestone! What a quote from the great man who is not known for letting his emotion known in public. But, he had surely kept his one of the best quote for the right time. Inspiration and Respect are the things which comes automatically deep down from heart. I am sure everyone from our generation look out to sachin for the two. He inspires millions by his act both on and off the field. An eighteen year old kid touring his first Australian series and hitting a century on the convent...
