Can we unite?

Bloods spattered across the street
Faces covered; without any guilt,
Tears battling for a reflection,
Can we unite? Is the question?

Young ones holding on to their last breathe,
Asking a question, where are you Papa?
Closing their eyes,
Thinking, if this was their battle?

Innocence losing out,
Fading away with the darkness,
Pain now the most selfish emotion,
Sticking only to the closed notion.

Words once a friend now an enemy,
Speech once a freedom now an excuse,
Yes we lived or did we?
Can we unite? Is this still the question?
